Screening questionnaire

You may suffer from back pain, sore eyes or sleepless nights. This could be a sign that you are suffering from Ankylosing spondylitis (AS).

This test will tell you whether you are suspected of suffering from AS.

It is composed of several questions, which could be answered with «Yes», «No» or «Don't know». Even if you answer several questions with «Don't know», the test remains valid.


Do you suffer from nightly back pain or pain in the loins or a stiffened spine in the morning?

Do you suffer from single swollen joints?

Was an inflammation of the urethra or of the cervix diagnosed in the previous month?

Did you suffer from diarrhea in the previous month?

Did you experience pain in the buttocks, once on the right side, once on the left?

Did you temporarily have stubby fingers or toes?

Do you experience heel pain?

Did you have an inflammation of the iris?

Did you suffer from balantis, psoriasis or a chronic inflammation of your intestines?

Have X-rays/MRI scans shown that you suffer from inflammation of both sacrum and intestinal joints?

Do get a relief of pain when you take non-steroidal antirheumatic drugs and if you stop using them, the pain reappears?

Were you diagnosed of expressing the HLA-B27 genotype, or was someone in your family diagnosed with one of the following diseases? Ankylosing spondylitis, Reiter's syndrome, inflammation of the iris, psoriasis or a chronic inflammation of intestines?
